The Messenger of Allah ﷺ provided us with camels from the zakat camels for the Hajj. We said, "Messenger of Allah, we do not think these will be enough to carry us."He replied, "There is not a single camel of ours that does not have a devil on its hump. So mention the name of Allah over them when you mount them, as I have commanded you, then put them to your service, for it is Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, who truly carries you."
حملنا رسول الله ﷺ على إبل من إبل الصدقة للحج فقلنا: يا رسول الله، ما نرى أن تحملنا هذه قال: ما من بعير لنا إلا في ذروته شيطان، فاذكروا اسم الله عليها إذا ركبتموها كما أمرتكم، ثم امتهنوها لأنفسكم فإنما يحمل الله عزوجل.
Reported by Imam Ahmad (17938) and Tabarani in Kabir (22/334), both from the hadith of Muhammad bin Ubayd, who said, "Muhammad bin Ishaq narrated to us, from Muhammad bin Ibrahim, from Umar bin Hakam bin Thawban, from Abu Las Khuzai," and he related it.Its chain is hasan, because Muhammad bin Ishaq explicitly said "he narrated to us" in a version found in Ahmad (17939). Ibn Khuzayma graded it sahih (2377), as did Hakim (1/444), who said, "According to the criteria of Muslim." They added, after his words "the camels of charity," the phrase "weak ones," referring to Hajj.
