The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Treat women kindly, for woman was created from a rib, and the most crooked part of the rib is its upper portion. If you try to straighten it, you will break it, and if you leave it alone, it will remain crooked. So treat women kindly."
قال رسول الله ﷺ: استوصوا بالنساء فإن المرأة خلقت من ضلع وإن أعوج شيء في الضلع أعلاه فإن ذهبت تقيمه كسرته وإن تركته لم يزل أعوج فاستوصوا بالنساء.
Bukhari narrated it in the chapters on the prophets (3331) — and this is his wording — and Muslim in the book of breastfeeding (1468: 62), both of them via Husayn bin Ali, from Zaida, from Maysara Ashjai, from Abu Hazim, from Abu Hurairah, who mentioned it.
