The Messenger of Allah forbade walking in a single sandal and said, "Indeed, Satan walks in a single sandal."
أن رسول الله نهى عن المشي في النعل الواحدة، وقال: إن الشيطان يمشي بالنعل الواحدة.
Tahawi narrated it in Sharh Mushkil (1358), from Rabi bin Sulayman Muradi, who said, Ibn Wahb informed us, from Layth bin Saad, from Jafar bin Rabia, from Abdul-Rahman Araj, from Abu Hurairah, and he related it.The hadith regarding the prohibition against walking in a single sandal, without mention of Satan, is found in the Sahihayn, Bukhari in the Book of Clothing (5856), and Muslim in the Book of Clothing (2097:68), both by way of Malik, from Abu Zinad, from Araj, from Abu Hurairah, that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "None of you should walk in a single sandal, let him either go barefoot or wear both sandals together." The wording given is Bukhari's.
