Some people asked the Prophet ﷺ about soothsayers. He replied, "They are nothing."They said, "Messenger of Allah, sometimes they tell us something that turns out to be true."The Prophet ﷺ said, "That word of truth is something a jinn snatches and clucks into the ear of his human ally like the clucking of a hen, and they mix it with more than a hundred lies."
Bukhari narrated it in Tawhid (7561), and Muslim in Salam (2228), both from the hadith of Ibn Shihab, who said, Yahya bin Urwa bin Zubayr told me that he heard Urwa bin Zubayr say, Ayesha said, and he mentioned something similar to it. The wording given is that of Bukhari, and Muslim's wording is similar to it.
