Bukhari narrated it in "Riqaq" (6577), and Muslim in "Fadail" (2299), both from the hadith of Yahya Qattan, from Ubaydullah, "Nafi told me," from Ibn Umar, and he related it.Muslim added, Ubaydullah said, "So I asked him about it." And in the hadith of Ibn Bishr, "three days."This explanation shows the error of what Ibn Hibban held in his Sahih (14/365), where he said following the hadith of Ibn Umar, "The distance between Jurba and Adhruh is the same as between Madinah and Amman, Makkah and Aylah, Sanaa and Madinah, and Sanaa and Busra, all equal, without there being any contradiction or inconsistency between these reports."That is because there is an error in Muslim's narration due to an abridgment made by some of its narrators, as Diya al-Din Maqdisi clarified, and Hafiz quoted from him in Fath al-Bari (11/472), when he related, from the hadith of Abu Hurairah with a hasan chain, marfu, mentioning the Pool, where he said in it, "Its width is like the distance between you and Jurba and Adhruh."Diya al-Din said, "It thus becomes clear that an omission occurred in the hadith of Ibn Umar, its intended form being, 'like the distance between my station and Jurba and Adhruh.' So 'my station and between' was dropped."Hafiz Salah al-Din Alai said, after relating the statement of Ibn Athir in Nihayah, "They are two villages in Sham, between which is a journey of three days," then he pronounced him mistaken in that and said, "It is not as he said. Rather, between them is the distance of a single bowshot, and they are both well known, lying between Jerusalem and Karak."He said, "The omitted portion has been established by Daraqutni and others in the wording, 'the distance between Madinah, Jurba, and Adhruh.'"Hafiz said, "Once that is established, all the apparent differences resolve to being due to the difference between slow travel and fast travel."
