Ishaq bin Rahawayh (301) narrated it from Abu Muawiya, who said, "Hamza Zayyat narrated to us, from Abu Mujahid Saad Tai, from Abu Madla, from Abu Hurairah," and he mentioned it in a long hadith. Ahmad (8043), Abd bin Humayd (1420), and Ibn Hibban (7387) also narrated it through this same route, except that some of them did not mention the place of the citation. Its chain is hasan because of Abu Madla, for his hadith is hasan. Ibn Majah (1752) declared him trustworthy, and Ibn Hibban mentioned him among the trustworthy narrators.As for what Tirmidhi (2526) narrated through the route of Muhammad bin Fudayl, from Hamza Zayyat, from Ziyad Tai, from Abu Hurairah, in a long hadith which included this portion, it contains a break in the chain, as Tirmidhi himself said. He said, "This hadith's chain is not that strong, and in my view it is not connected. This hadith has also been narrated through another chain, from Abu Madla, from Abu Hurairah, from the Prophet ﷺ." And it is as he stated.As for what Hakim (2/452) narrated through the route of Abdul-Razzaq, from Umar bin Habib Makki, from Humayd bin Qays Aaraj, from Tawus, who said, "A man came to Abdullah bin Amr bin As and asked him what creation was made from. He said, from water, light, darkness, wind, and dust," this is daif. Hakim said, "This hadith has a sahih chain." But Dhahabi followed up on this, saying, "I searched for this Umar and could not identify him, and the report is munkar." I say, this is because he added things to the hadith that are not corroborated elsewhere.
