A man came to the Prophet ﷺ and asked, "Messenger of Allah, what will I receive if I am killed in the path of Allah?"He replied, "Paradise."When the man turned to leave, the Prophet ﷺ said, "Except for debt. Jibreel just whispered that to me."
أن رجلا جاء إلى النبي ﷺ فقال: ما لي يا رسول الله إن قتلت في سبيل الله؟ قال: الجنة. قال: فلما ولى قال: إلا الدين سارني به جبريل عليه السلام آنفا.
Ahmad narrated it (19077, 17253), as did Ibn Abu Shayba (3/273), and from him Ibn Abu Asim in al-Jihad (2/238), from Muhammad bin Bishr, who said, Muhammad bin Amr, that is Ibn Alqama Laythi, narrated to us, who said, Abu Kathir, the freedman of the Laythis, narrated to me, from Muhammad bin Abdullah bin Jahsh, and he mentioned it.Its chain of transmission is hasan because of Abu Kathir, the freedman of the Laythis, as mentioned before, and because of Muhammad bin Amr Laythi, for these two make the hadith hasan.
