The Messenger of Allah ﷺ marched toward Hunayn. The narrator mentioned the hadith, in which it states, Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent word to Safwan bin Umaya, asking him for some armor he had, a hundred coats of mail along with their accompanying equipment.Safwan asked, "Is this a forced seizure, Muhammad?"He replied, "No, it is a guaranteed loan, which we shall return to you."
أن رسول الله ﷺ سار إلى حنين، فذكر الحديث وفيه: ثم بعث رسول الله ﷺ إلى صفوان بن أمية فسأله أدرعا عنده مائة درع، وما يصلحها من عدتها. فقال: أغصبا يا محمد؟ فقال: بل عارية مضمونة حتى نؤديها عليك.
Hakim narrated it (3/48–49), and Bayhaqi (6/89) from him, through the route of Ibn Ishaq, who said, "Asim bin Umar bin Qatada narrated to me, from Abdul-Rahman bin Jabir, from his father Jabir bin Abdullah," and he related it. Hakim said, "Sahih in isnad." I say, it is hasan because of Muhammad bin Ishaq.It has also been narrated from the hadith of Safwan, and its discussion has already been given in the Book of Sales.
