Abu Hurairah reported,

We were with the Prophet ﷺ on a journey when the people's provisions ran out, to the point that he was about to slaughter some of their riding camels.Umar said, "Messenger of Allah, why not gather what remains of the people's provisions and call upon Allah to bless them?"So he did. The one who had wheat brought his wheat, the one who had dates brought his dates.Mujahid added, "And the one who had date pits brought his pits."I asked, "What did they do with the pits?"He replied, "They would suck on them and drink water afterwards."Then he prayed over them, and the people filled their bags with provisions. At that moment he said, "I bear witness that there is no god but Allah and that I am the Messenger of Allah. No servant meets Allah with these two testimonies, free of doubt, without entering Paradise."In another narration, during the expedition of Tabuk, the people were struck by hunger. They said, "Messenger of Allah, if you would permit us, we would slaughter our water-carrying camels and eat and use the fat for oil."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Do so."Then Umar came and said, "Messenger of Allah, if you do that, our riding mounts will become few. Instead, call them to bring whatever remains of their provisions, then ask Allah to bless it for them. Perhaps Allah will put blessing in it."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Yes."He called for a leather mat and spread it out, then called for whatever remained of their provisions. One man came with a handful of corn, another came with a handful of dates, and another came with a piece of bread, until a small amount had gathered on the mat.The Messenger of Allah ﷺ then prayed over it for blessing and said, "Take from it into your containers."So they began filling their containers, until there was no container in the camp that they had not filled. They ate until they were satisfied, and there was still some left over. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ then said, "I bear witness that there is no god but Allah and that I am the Messenger of Allah. No servant meets Allah with these two testimonies, free of doubt, and is barred from Paradise."
