The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "I have been commanded to fight people until they declare, 'There is no god but Allah.' Once they say it, their lives and property are protected from me, except for what is due by right, and their reckoning rests with Allah."Then he recited, "You are not over them a controller" [Ghashiyah 88:22].
قال رسول الله ﷺ: أمرت أن أقاتل الناس حتى يقولوا: لا إله إلا الله، فإذا قالوا: لا إله إلا الله عصموا مني دماءهم وأموالهم إلا بحقها، وحسابهم على الله، ثم قرأ{تست عليهم بمصيطر}
Muslim reported it in the Book of Faith (21/35) through several routes from Sufyan, from Abu Zubayr, from Jabir, who said, then he related it. He also reported it through another route from Abu Sufyan, from Jabir, with the same wording.
