On the day of Uhud, the people fled from the Prophet ﷺ. I saw Ayesha Bint Abu Bakr and Umm Sulaym with their garments tucked up so that I could see the anklets on their legs, carrying water skins on their backs. Another narrator said they were transporting the water skins. They would empty them into the mouths of the men, then return and refill them, then come back and empty them again into the mouths of the men.
لما كان يوم أحد انهزم الناس عن النبي ﷺ، قال: ولقد رأيت عائشة بنت أبي بكر وأم سليم، وأنهما لمشمرتان أرى خدم سوقهما، تنقزان القرب، - وقال غيره: تنقلان القرب- على متونهما ثم تفرغانه في أفواه القوم، ثم ترجعان فتملآنها، ثم تجيئان فتفرغانها في أفواه القوم.
Bukhari reported it in jihad (2880), and Muslim in jihad (1811: 136), both through the route of Abu Muamar (who is Ubaydullah bin Amr Minqari), who said, Abdul-Warith narrated to us, who said, Abdul-Aziz bin Suhayb narrated to us, from Anas, and he related it. The wording given here is that of Bukhari.
