"Messenger of Allah, we see that jihad is the best of deeds. Shall we not go out to fight?"He replied, "No, but the best jihad is an accepted Hajj."
يا رسول الله نرى الجهاد أفضل الأعمال، أفلا نجاهد؟ قال: لا، لكن أفضل الجهاد حج مبرور.
Bukhari narrated it in Hajj (1520) from Abdul-Rahman bin Mubarak, he said, Khalid narrated to us, Habib bin Abu Amra informed us, from Ayesha bint Abu Talha, from Ayesha, Mother of the Believers, and he mentioned it.Bukhari also narrated it in Jihad and Expeditions (2875) through Muawiya bin Ishaq, from Habib bin Abu Amra, from Ayesha bint Talha, with the same chain, from the Prophet ﷺ, that his wives asked him about jihad, and he said, "What an excellent jihad Hajj is."
