A man said, "Messenger of Allah, grant me permission to wander the earth in devotion."The Prophet ﷺ replied, "The wandering of my nation is striving in the path of Allah."
أن رجلا قال: يا رسول الله ائذن لي بالسياحة، قال النبي ﷺ: إن سياحة أمتي الجهاد في سبيل الله.
Abu Dawud (2486), Hakim (2/73), and Bayhaqi (9/161) narrated it via Muhammad bin Uthman Tanukhi Abul-Jamahir, who said, Haytham bin Humayd narrated to us, Ala bin Harith informed me, from Qasim Abu Abdul-Rahman, from Abu Umama, and he related it.Its chain is hasan because of Qasim Abu Abdul-Rahman, for there is disagreement about him, and the closer view is that his hadith is hasan. Hakim said, "This is a hadith sahih in its chain."
