Salim, the freedman of Abu Huzaifa, used to lead the first emigrants and the companions of the Prophet ﷺ in prayer at the mosque of Quba. Among them were Abu Bakr, Umar, Abu Salama, Zayd, and Amir bin Rabia.In another narration, when the first emigrants arrived at al-Usbah, a place in Quba, before the arrival of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, Salim, the freedman of Abu Huzaifa, used to lead them in prayer, as he had memorized the most Quran among them.
كان سالم مولى أبي حذيفة يؤم المهاجرين الأولين وأصحاب النبي ﷺ في مسجد قباء فيهم: أبو بكر، وعمر، وأبو سلمة وزيد، وعامر بن ربيعة. وفي رواية: لما قدم المهاجرون الأولون العصبة- موضع بقباء- قبل مقدم رسول الله ﷺ كان يؤمهم سالم مولى أبي حذيفة، وكان أكثرهم قرآنا.
Bukhari reported it in the Book of Rulings (7175) from Uthman bin Salih, who said, Abdullah bin Wahb narrated to us, Ibn Jurayj informed me, that Nafi informed him, that Ibn Umar informed him, and he mentioned it.The other narration is in the Book of Adhan (692), by way of Ubaydullah, from Nafi, with the same wording.
