Kathir bin Mura, Amr bin Aswad, and Abu Umama reported from the Prophet ﷺ that he said, "The best leaders of Quraysh are the best leaders of the people."
وكثير بن مرة، وعمرو بن الأسود، وأبي أمامة عن النبي ﷺ قال: إن خيار أئمة قريش خيار أئمة الناس.

Tabarani related it in al-Kabir (8/128), and Bukhari in Tarikh al-Kabir (2/262), both from the hadith of Ismail bin Ayyash, from Damdam bin Zura, from Shurayh bin Ubayd, from Harith bin Harith, and Kathir bin Mura, and Amr bin Aswad, and Abu Umama, who mentioned it. Its chain is hasan because of Ismail bin Ayyash, for he is truthful in his narration from the people of Syria, and Damdam is one of them, and he is of hasan hadith. The hadith is connected through Harith bin Harith and Abu Umama, and is a mursal narration through Kathir bin Mura and Amr bin Aswad. Haythami said in Majma al-Zawaid (5/195), "Tabarani related it, and its chain is hasan."
