I went to Hudhayfah at al-Madain during the nights when people were marching against Uthman. He said, "Rubai, what have your people done?"I asked, "About what concerning them are you asking?"He said, "Who among them has gone out against this man?"So I named some men among those who had gone out against him.He said, "I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, 'Whoever separates from the community and demeans the authority of leadership will meet Allah with no honor before Him.'"
Ahmad (23283, 23284) narrated it through multiple routes from Abu Nadr Kathir bin Abu Kathir, who said, "Rabi bin Harash narrated to us," and he related it.Its isnad is hasan, because of this Kathir, concerning whom there is disagreement. Abu Hatim said, "A shaykh whose hadith is sound." Ibn Hibban mentioned him among the trustworthy narrators. Ibn Main said, "His hadith is daif." A narrator like this has his hadith graded hasan when he does not contradict others and does not bring anything that is rejected against him.Haythami said in Majma (5/222), "Ahmad narrated it, and its narrators are trustworthy."
