She said, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ called the believing women to give their pledge of allegiance.Asma said, "Messenger of Allah, will you not extend your hand to us?"He replied, "I do not shake hands with women."
قالت دعا رسول الله ﷺ نساء المؤمنين إلى البيعة، فقالت أسماء: يا رسول الله، ألا تحسر لنا يدك؟ قال: إني لا أصافح النساء.
Ishaq bin Rahawayh narrated it, as found in Matalib Aliyah (2109), and this is his wording, and Ahmad narrated it in abbreviated form (27594), both through two routes from Abdul-Hameed bin Bahram, from Shahr bin Hawshab, from Asma bint Yazid, who related it.Ibn Hajar said in Matalib Aliyah (9/610), after citing it from the Musnad of Ibn Rahawayh, "Its isnad is hasan."I say, it is as he said, for Shahr's hadith is graded hasan when he does not contradict others and does not bring anything that would be rejected of him, especially when Abdul-Hameed bin Bahram narrates from him.Ahmad also narrated it (27572) from Hashim bin Qasim, who said, "Abdul-Hameed narrated to us," giving it at greater length.
