I came to Ayesha to ask her about something, and she said, "Where are you from?"I replied, "A man from the people of Egypt."She asked, "How did your companion treat you during this expedition of yours?"He said, "We had no complaint against him. If a man among us lost his camel, he would give him a camel. If he lost his slave, he would give him a slave. If he was in need of provisions, he would give him provisions."She said, "What he did to my brother Muhammad bin Abu Bakr will not stop me from telling you what I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say in this house of mine. He said, 'O Allah, whoever takes charge of any of the affairs of my community and is harsh with them, be harsh with him, and whoever takes charge of any of the affairs of my community and is gentle with them, be gentle with him.'"
