When the Prophet ﷺ forbade certain types of water-skins, it was said to him, "Not everyone can find a water-skin." So he granted them permission to use earthenware jars, except for those coated with pitch.
لما نهى النبي ﷺ عن الأسقية، قيل للنبي: ليس كل الناس يجد سقاء، فرخص لهم في الجر غير المزفت.
Bukhari narrated it in the Book of Drinks (5593), and Muslim in the Book of Drinks (2000: 66), both through the route of Sufyan (that is, Ibn Uyayna), from Sulayman bin Abu Muslim al-Ahwal, from Mujahid, from Abu Iyad, from Abdullah bin Amr, who said, and then he mentioned it.
