The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The Hour will not come until tribes from my nation join the polytheists and worship idols. There will arise in my nation thirty liars, each one claiming to be a prophet, but I am the seal of the prophets. There is no prophet after me."
Abu Dawud (4252), Tirmidhi (2219), and Imam Ahmad (22394) all narrated it through routes from Hammad bin Zayd, from Ayub, from Abu Qilaba, from Abu Asma Amr bin Marthad Rahbi, from Thawban, and he related the hadith. The wording given here is that of Tirmidhi, while the wording of the other two is longer, and it will come later in the Book of Tribulations.Ibn Hibban (6714) and Hakim (4/429) both graded it sahih, each through another route from Abu Qilaba Abdullah bin Zayd Jarmi, with his chain, in a long context.Hakim said, "It is sahih according to the criteria of the two Shaykhs, though they did not narrate it with this wording. Rather, Muslim (2889) narrated the hadith of Muaz bin Hisham, from Qatada, from Abu Qilaba, from Abu Asma Rahbi, from Thawban, in abridged form."I say, it is as he said. Muslim also narrated it through routes from Hammad bin Zayd with his chain, both abridged (1920) and in full (2889), and Ibn Majah (3952) narrated it through the route of Abu Qilaba Jarmi, but he did not mention the point relevant here, which is the Prophet'sﷺ statement, "I am the seal of the prophets."This hadith is a refutation of Mirza Ghulam Ahmad Qadiani (born in 1835 CE, died in 1908 CE), who claimed prophethood, and he is one of the thirty liars.
