The Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade making nabidh in gourds and pitch-coated vessels.
أن رسول الله ﷺ نهى عن الدباء والمزفت أن ينبذ فيه.
Muslim narrated it in the Book of Drinks (1992: 30) from Qutayba bin Saeed, who said, Layth narrated to us, from Ibn Shihab, from Anas bin Malik, who said, and then he mentioned it. Bukhari mentioned it without a full chain in the Book of Drinks (5587) from Zuhri with the same wording, and it is connected through the chain preceding it, from Abu Yaman, who said, Shuayb informed us, from Zuhri.His saying, "dubba," with the dal pronounced with damma and the ba doubled, refers to the dried gourd.His saying, "muzaffat" refers to the vessel coated with pitch, which is a type of tar, as mentioned in al-Nihaya.
