We went looking for the Messenger of Allah ﷺ but did not find him. Ayesha sent out to us a dish of asidah and dates. Then the Prophet ﷺ came striding along and asked, "Have you eaten anything?"We replied, "Yes, Messenger of Allah."In another narration, she ordered a khazirah to be prepared for us, and it was made for us.
اتبعنا رسول الله ﷺ، فلم نجده، فأرسلت إلينا عائشة بعصيدة وتمر، وجاء النبي ﷺ يتقلع، فقال: هل طعمتم من شيء؟ قلنا: نعم يا رسول الله. وفي رواية: فأمرت لنا بخزيرة فصنعت لنا.

Reported by Abu Dawud (143), Nasai in Kubra (6665), Ahmad (17846), and Hakim (1/148) through various routes from Ibn Jurayj, who said, Ismail bin Kathir narrated to us, from Aasim bin Luqayt bin Sabirah, from his father, and he related it.The wording given is that of Nasai, while Abu Dawud did not present its text in full, and Ahmad's version has a longer wording. The other narration in Abu Dawud (142) comes through Yahya bin Salim, from Ismail bin Kathir, with the same account but also in a longer wording. Its chain of transmission is sahih.
