We slaughtered a horse during the time of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and ate it.In another narration, she said, "We slaughtered Wazad while we were in Medina."
نحرنا فرسا على عهد رسول الله ﷺ فأكلناه. وفي رواية قالت: ذبحنا وزاد ونحن بالمدينة.
Bukhari narrated it in the Book of Slaughtering and Hunting (5519), and Muslim in the Book of Hunting and Slaughtering (1942), both through the route of Hisham (that is, Ibn Urwa), from Fatimah (that is, the daughter of Mundhir bin Zubayr), from Asma bint Abu Bakr, who mentioned it.The other narration in Bukhari (5511) comes through the route of Abdah, from Hisham, with the same wording. In a narration recorded by Daraqutni (4786), she said, "We slaughtered a horse in the time of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and we and his household ate it." Its chain is hasan because of Thabit bin Thawban, whose hadith is hasan."His household" means the household of the Prophet ﷺ, and it is unlikely that they would have eaten without the Prophet's ﷺ knowledge. This contains the Prophet's ﷺ tacit approval.
