A sheep was cooked, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Give me the foreleg." So he handed it to him.Then he said, "Give me the foreleg." So he handed it to him.Then he said, "Give me the foreleg."The man replied, "Messenger of Allah, a sheep has only two forelegs!"He said, "Had you searched for it, you would have found it."
أن شاة طبخت فقال رسول الله ﷺ: أعطني الذراع فناولها إياه، فقال: أعطني الذراع فناولها إياه، ثم قال: أعطني الذراع فقال: يا رسول الله إنما للشاة ذراعان! قال: أما إنك لو التمستها لوجدتها.
Imam Ahmad (10706) and Ibn Hibban (6484) both narrated it from the hadith of Ibn Ajlan, from his father, from Abu Hurairah, as mentioned. Its chain of transmission is hasan because of Ibn Ajlan, who is Muhammad, and his father, for both of them make the hadith hasan.
