We used to go on military expeditions with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and we would take vessels and waterskins from the polytheists and make use of them, and he did not find fault with that.
كنا نغزو مع رسول الله ﷺ، فنصيب من آنية المشركين وأسقيتهم فنستمتع بها، فلا يعيب ذلك عليهم.
It was narrated by Abu Dawud (3838), Bayhaqi (1/32), and Ahmad (15053) through the route of Abdul-Ala bin Abdul-Ala, and Abu Dawud added, "and Ismail (that is, Ibn Ulaya)," from Barad bin Sinan, from Ata (that is, Ibn Abu Rabah), from Jabir, and he related it. Its isnad is hasan because of Barad bin Sinan, for he is hasan al-hadith.It was also narrated by Ahmad (14501) and Tahawi (1/473) through the route of Muhammad bin Rashid, from Sulayman bin Musa, from Ata bin Abu Rabah, in a similar manner, and the two of them added, "and all of it was dead," and Tahawi added, "so we benefit from that." Its isnad is not problematic, because of Muhammad bin Rashid and his teacher.
