The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Do not ride on silk brocade or leopard skins."He said, Muawiya was never suspected of fabricating hadith from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.
قال رسول الله ﷺ: لا تركبوا الخز والنمار. قال: وكان معاوية لا يتهم في الحديث عن رسول الله ﷺ.
Abu Dawud (4129), Ibn Majah (3656), and Ahmad (16840) all narrated it through the route of Waki, who said, "Abu Mutamir narrated to us, from Ibn Sirin, from Muawiya," and he related it. The wording given here is that of Abu Dawud, and Ahmad's wording is similar. Ibn Majah's wording is, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to forbid riding on leopard skins." Its chain is sahih. As for Abu Mutamir, Abu Dawud said, "His name is Yazid bin Tahman, and he used to reside in Hirah." He is also trustworthy.
