In the days of ignorance, when people performed the aqiqah sacrifice for a child, they would dye a piece of cotton with the blood of the sacrifice, and after shaving the child's head they would place it on his head. The Prophet ﷺ said, "Use khaluq perfume in place of the blood."
كانوا في الجاهلية إذا عقوا عن الصبي خضبوا قطنة بدم العقيقة، فإذا حلقوا رأس الصبي وضعوها على رأسه فقال النبي ﷺ: اجعلوا مكان الدم خلوقا.

Ibn Hibban (5308) narrated it through Hajjaj (that is, Ibn Muhammad Masissi Awar), and Bazzar (1239, in Kashf Astar) through Rawh bin Ubada, both of them from Ibn Jurayj, who said, Yahya bin Saeed (that is, Ansari) informed me, from Amra (that is, the daughter of Abdul-Rahman), from Ayesha, and he related it.Its isnad is sahih.
