The Prophet ﷺ sacrificed two horned rams, white speckled with black, slaughtering them with his own hand. He pronounced the name of Allah, said the takbir, and placed his foot on their sides.In another wording, he said, "In the name of Allah, and Allah is the Greatest."
ضحى النبي ﷺ بكبشين أملحين أقرنين، ذبحهما بيده، وسمى وكبر، ووضع رجله على صفاحهما. وفي لفظ: قال: باسم الله، والله أكبر.
Bukhari narrated it in the chapter on Sacrifices (5565), and Muslim in the chapter on Sacrifices (17:1966), both from Qutayba bin Saeed, who said, Abu Awana narrated to us, from Qatada, from Anas bin Malik, and he mentioned it.The other wording is Muslim's, by way of Saeed (he is Ibn Abu Aruba), from Qatada, with the same account.His words, "their sides," mean the side of the neck, that is, its flank. He did this only to make it more secure and firmer, so that the sacrificial animal would not thrash its head about, which would prevent him from completing the slaughter or would injure him.
