Two things I memorized from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. He said, "Allah has prescribed excellence in everything. So when you kill, kill well, and when you slaughter, slaughter well. Let each of you sharpen his blade and spare the animal he slaughters any suffering."
Muslim narrated it in the Book of Hunting and Slaughtered Animals (57:1955) from Abu Bakr bin Abu Shayba, who said, "Ismail bin Ulaya narrated to us, from Khalid Haddan, from Abu Qilaba, from Abu Ashath, from Shaddad bin Aws," and he mentioned it.The shafrah is a broad, sharpened piece of iron, like the edge of a sword or knife.
