The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "There are two groups from my nation whom Allah has protected from the Fire, a group that fights in Hind, and a group that will be with Isa, son of Maryam."
عن رسول الله ﷺ قال: عصابتان من أمتي أحرزهما الله من النار: عصابة تغزو الهند، وعصابة تكون مع عيسى ابن مريم.
Nasai (3175) narrated it from Muhammad bin Abdullah bin Abdul-Raheem, who said, Assad bin Musa told us, who said, Baqiyyah told us, who said, Abu Bakr Zubaydi told me, from his brother Muhammad bin Walid, from Luqman bin Amir, from Abdul-Ala bin Adi Bahrani, from Thawban, and he related it.In the chain is Baqiyyah, who is Ibn Walid, a mudallis narrator, but he stated his source explicitly, and moreover he was not the sole narrator of it. His teacher Abu Bakr, who is Ibn Walid Zubaydi, is unknown, but he too was not the sole narrator of it. Imam Ahmad (22396) narrated it through Baqiyyah, who said, Abdullah bin Salim and Abu Bakr bin Walid Zubaydi told us. Tabarani narrated it in al-Awsat (6737) and in al-Shamiyyin (1851) through another route, from Jarra bin Mulayh Bahrani, from Muhammad bin Walid Zubaydi, with his chain of transmission. With these corroborating narrations, the chain becomes hasan.A note of caution, in one printed edition of Tabarani there occurred a mix-up in the chain, so be alert to that.Tabarani said, "This hadith is not narrated from Thawban except through this chain, Zubaydi narrated it alone," meaning Muhammad bin Walid.I say, it is not as he said, for it has also been narrated through a route other than that of Muhammad bin Walid Zubaydi, as you have seen.
