The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "He is not one of us who swears by trust, and whoever turns a man's wife or slave against him is not one of us."
قال رسول الله ﷺ: ليس منا من حلف بالأمانة، ومن خبب على امرئ زوجته، أو مملوكه، فليس منا.
Narrated by Abu Dawud (3253) and Ahmad (22980), and graded sahih by Ibn Hibban (4363), Hakim (4/298), and Bayhaqi (10/30), all of them from the hadith of Walid bin Thalaba Tai, from Abdullah bin Burayda, from his father, mentioning it at length and in brief. Its isnad is sahih.The meaning of the hadith is that "trust" (al-amanah) is not one of the names of Allah Most High, and that is why swearing by it was forbidden.
