The Messenger of Allah ﷺ ruled that a woman's paternal male relatives, whoever they may be, are responsible for paying blood-money on her behalf, and they inherit nothing from her except what remains after her heirs have received their shares. If she is killed, her blood-money goes to her heirs, and it is they who put her killer to death.
قضى رسول الله ﷺ أن يعقل المرأة عصبتها من كانوا، ولا يرثون منها شيئا إلا ما فضل عن ورثتها، وإن قتلت فعقلها بين ورثتها، فهم يقتلون قاتلها.
Ibn Majah (2647) narrated it from Ishaq bin Mansur, who said, Yazid bin Harun informed us, who said, Muhammad bin Rashid informed us, from Sulayman bin Musa, from Amr bin Shuayb, and he mentioned it. Its chain of transmission is hasan because of Amr bin Shuayb, for his hadith is hasan.
