A woman struck her co-wife with a tent pole while she was pregnant and killed her. One of the two women was from the tribe of Lihyan.The Messenger of Allah ﷺ ruled that the blood-money for the slain woman was due from the paternal male relatives of the killer, and that a slave (ghurrah) was due as compensation for the unborn child in her womb.A man from the killer's paternal relatives objected, "Are we to pay compensation for one who neither ate nor drank, nor cried out at birth? Such a claim should be dismissed!"The Messenger of Allah ﷺ replied, "Rhymed speech like that of the bedouins!"And he imposed the blood-money upon them.
ضربت امرأة ضرتها بعمود فسطاط وهي حبلى، فقتلتها قال: وإحداهما لحيانية. قال: فجعل رسول الله ﷺ دية المقتولة على عصبة القاتلة. وغرة لما في بطنها. فقال رجل من عصبة القاتلة: أنغرم دية من لا أكل ولا شرب ولا استهل؟ فمثل ذلك يطل! فقال رسول الله ﷺ: أسجع كسجع الأعراب! قال: وجعل عليهم الدية.
