No matter involving retaliation was ever brought before the Messenger of Allah ﷺ without him commanding pardon in it.
ما رفع إلى رسول الله ﷺ أمر فيه القصاص، إلا أمر فيه بالعفو.
Narrated by Abu Dawud (4497), Nasai (4783, 4784), Ibn Majah (2692), Ahmad (13220), and Bayhaqi (8/54), all from the hadith of Abdullah bin Bakr Muzani, who said, Ata bin Abu Maymuna narrated to us, and he said, I do not know it except from Anas bin Malik, then he mentioned it. Its isnad is hasan because of Abdullah bin Bakr bin Abdullah Muzani Basri, for he is hasan al-hadith.
