The Messenger of Allah said, "None of you should prevent his brother from resting his beam upon his wall."
أن رسول الله قال: لا يمنع أحدكم أخاه مرفقه أن يضعه على جداره.
Ahmad narrated it (2307) from Qutayba bin Saeed, who said, Ibn Lahia narrated to us, from Abu Aswad, from Ikrima, from Ibn Abbas, who mentioned it. Its chain is hasan because of Ibn Lahia, for he is trustworthy when the Abadila narrate from him, and Qutayba bin Saeed is one of them.Ibn Majah narrated it (2337) through another route from Abdullah bin Wahb, who said, Ibn Lahia informed me with his chain, and its wording is, "None of you should prevent his neighbor from driving a piece of wood into his wall." Abdullah bin Wahb is one of the Abadila who heard from Ibn Lahia before his books were burned. Qutayba bin Saeed said, "We used to write from the book of Abdullah bin Wahb, and then we would hear it from Ibn Lahia himself."As for his word "benefit," it refers to everything one derives support from, that is, makes use of.On this subject there is also what was narrated from Mujammi bin Yazid and men from the Ansar, narrated by Ibn Majah (2336) and Ahmad (15938), and it contains unknown narrators.
