The Prophet ﷺ offered an oath to a group of people, and they all rushed forward to take it, so he ordered that lots be drawn among them to determine who would swear.
أن النبي ﷺ عرض على قوم اليمين، فأسرعوا، فأمروا أن يسهم بينهم في اليمين أيهم يحلف.
Bukhari narrated it in the Book of Testimonies (2674) from Ishaq bin Nasr, who said, Abdul-Razzaq narrated to us, saying, Mamar informed us, from Hammam bin Munabbih, from Abu Hurairah, and he related it.In a version reported by Ahmad (8209) from Abdul-Razzaq with his chain, the wording is, "If the two disliked taking the oath, or both wished for it, let lots be drawn between them for it." Abu Dawud (3617) also reported it from him. That is, if the judge rules that an oath must be taken but does not specify who should take it first, and the two disputing parties both rush to take it, lots should be drawn between them.The hadith carries other meanings as well.
