An Arabi came in to see the Prophet of Allah ﷺ while he was in my house. He said, "Prophet of Allah, I had a wife, and then I married another woman alongside her. My first wife now claims that she nursed my new wife once or twice."The Prophet of Allah ﷺ replied, "A single suckling or two does not establish the prohibition."
دخل أعرابي على نبي الله ﷺ وهو في بيتي. فقال: يا نبي الله! إني كانت لي امرأة فتزوجت عليها أخرى. فزعمت امرأتي الأولى أنها أرضعت امرأتي الحدثى رضعة أو رضعتين. فقال نبي الله ﷺ: لا تحرم الإملاجة والإملاجتان.
Muslim narrated it in the Book of Suckling (18:1451) via Mutamir bin Sulayman, from Ayub, who narrated from Abu Khalil, from Abdullah bin Harith, from Umm Fadl, and he mentioned it.In another narration, "A single suckling or two sucklings, or a single suck or two sucks, do not make marriage unlawful."In another narration, "and two sucklings and two sucks."In another narration, "Does a single suckling make marriage unlawful?" He said, "No."His saying "al-imlajah" means a single suck. It is said, "The child sucked (malaja) his mother," when he nursed from her. And "his mother suckled him (amlajathu)" means she nursed him.
