The Prophet ﷺ said to a man, "Would you be pleased if I married you to so-and-so?"He replied, "Yes."Then he said to the woman, "Would you be pleased if I married you to so-and-so?"She replied, "Yes."So he married them to each other. The man consummated the marriage with her without specifying a dowry and without giving her anything. He was among those who witnessed Hudaybiyah, and he had a share at Khaybar.When death approached him, he said, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ married me to so-and-so, and I did not specify a dowry for her, nor did I give her anything. I now call you to witness that I have given her, as her dowry, my share at Khaybar."She took the share and sold it for one hundred thousand.
أن النبي ﷺ قال لرجل: أترضى أن أزوجك فلانة؟ قال: نعم، وقال للمرأة: أترضين أن أزوجك فلانا قالت: نعم، فزوج أحدهما صاحبه، فدخل بها الرجل، ولم يفرض لها صداقا. ولم يعطها شيئا. وكان ممن شهد الحديبية له سهم خيبر. فلما حضرته الوفاة قال: إن رسول الله ﷺ زوجني فلانة، ولم أفرض لها صداقا، ولم أعطها شيئا. وإني أشهدكم أني أعطيتها من صداقها سهمي بخيبر، فأخذت سهما فباعته بمائة ألف.
Abu Dawud (2117) narrated it, and Ibn Hibban (4072) graded it sahih, as did Hakim (2/181–182), and from him Bayhaqi (7/232). All of them narrated it through Muhammad bin Salama, from Abu Abdul-Rahim Khalid bin Abu Yazid, from Zayd bin Abu Unaysa, from Yazid bin Abu Habib, from Marthad bin Abdullah, from Uqba bin Amir, who related it.Hakim said, "It is sahih according to the criteria of the two Shaykhs."I say, it meets the criteria of Muslim alone, because Bukhari did not narrate from Muhammad bin Salama, nor from his teacher Khalid bin Abu Yazid. Only Muslim narrated from both of them.
