Iyas bin Abu Zubab reported,

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Do not strike the female servants of Allah."Then the women became emboldened and began behaving badly toward their husbands. So Umar bin al-Khattab said, "The women have grown bold and behave badly toward their husbands ever since you forbade striking them."The Prophet then said, "Strike them."That night the men struck their wives, and many women came complaining of the beatings. When morning came, the Prophet ﷺ said, "Tonight seventy women have come around the family of Muhammad, all complaining of being struck. By Allah, you will not find those men to be the best among you."
