Usama bin Zayd informed his father Saad bin Abu Waqqas that a man came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said, "I practice withdrawal with my wife."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ asked him, "Why do you do that?"The man replied, "I am concerned about her child," or "her children."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "If that were harmful, it would have harmed the Persians and the Romans."
أن أسامة بن زيد أخبر والده سعد بن أبي وقاص، أن رجلا جاء إلى رسول الله ﷺ فقال: إني أعزل عن امرأتي. فقال له رسول الله ﷺ: لم تفعل ذلك؟ فقال الرجل: أشفق على ولدها أو أولادها. فقال رسول الله ﷺ: لو كان ذلك ضارا لضر فارس والروم.
Muslim reported it in the Book of Marriage (144:1443), via Abdullah bin Yazid Muqri, who said, Haywa narrated to us, who said, Ayyash bin Abbas narrated to me, that Abu Nadr told him, from Amir bin Saad, with the same chain, and he related it.
