The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Among the worst of people in the sight of Allah on the Day of Resurrection is a man who is intimate with his wife, and she with him, and then he discloses her secret."In another wording, "Among the gravest breaches of trust in the sight of Allah on the Day of Resurrection is that of a man who is intimate with his wife, and she with him, and then he discloses her secret."
Muslim narrated it in the Book of Marriage (123:1437) from Abu Bakr bin Abu Shayba, who said, we were told by Marwan bin Muawiya, from Umar bin Hamza Umari, who said, we were told by Abdul-Rahman bin Saad, who said, I heard Abu Saeed Khudri say, and then he mentioned it. The other wording was narrated through Abu Usama (that is, Hammad bin Usama), from Umar bin Hamza, with the same chain.People have spoken critically about this hadith because of Umar bin Hamza Umari. Nasai said, "Daif." Ahmad said, "His hadiths are objectionable (manakir)." Ibn Hibban said, "He was among those who made mistakes." Ibn Main said, "He is weaker than Umar bin Muhammad bin Zayd."Ibn Qattan concluded from Ibn Main's statement that this was a preference of Umar bin Muhammad bin Zayd over him, since the latter is reliable (thiqah), but in reality it is simply a preference of one reliable narrator over another, so the hadith with this chain is hasan. Bayan al-Wahm wal-Iham (4/451). This hadith is among those that Muslim selected from his narrations, otherwise his hadith is considered daif by the leading scholars of hadith. As for Dhahabi, he mentioned this hadith in Mizan (3/192) and said, "This is among what is considered objectionable (mustankar) for Umar bin Hamza," and he said, "Muslim used it as evidence."I say, perhaps the reason it was considered objectionable goes back to the severity of the punishment mentioned, for no one else corroborated Umar bin Hamza in this severity.
