The Prophet ﷺ said, "Any woman whom two guardians have given in marriage belongs to the first of the two, and any man who sells the same item to two buyers, it belongs to the first of them."
عن النبي ﷺ قال: أيما امرأة زوجها وليان فهيي للأول منهما، وأيما رجل باع بيعا من رجلين فهو للأول منهما.
Abu Dawud (2088), Tirmidhi (1110), Ibn Majah (2190), Ahmad (20085), Hakim (2/174-175), and Bayhaqi (7/139-141) all narrated it through various routes from Qatada, from Hasan, from Samura, from the Prophet ﷺ, and he related it. In some of the narrations, it comes from Saeed bin Abu Aruba, from Qatada, from Hasan, from Samura, or from Uqba. Saeed said, "I only think it is from Uqba." The doubt is Saeed's own.Bayhaqi said, after relating this disagreement, "The correct view is the narration of whoever narrated it from Samura bin Jundab." Its chain is sahih, and Abu Zura and Abu Hatim graded it sahih, as mentioned in Talkhis (3/165).Tirmidhi said, "Hasan," and Hakim said, "Sahih according to the standard of Bukhari."Hafiz, after relating these scholars' rulings of sahih, said, "Its being sahih depends on establishing that Hasan actually heard from Samura, for its narrators are reliable."I say, these scholars and others have established that Hasan heard from Samura without qualification.
