The Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade Uthman bin Mazun from celibacy, and had he permitted him, we would have castrated ourselves.
رد رسول الله ﷺ على عثمان بن مظعون التبتل، ولو أذن له لاختصينا.
Bukhari related it in the Book of Marriage (5073), and Muslim in the Book of Marriage (7:1402), both by way of Ibrahim bin Saad, who said, Ibn Shihab told us, he heard Saeed bin Musayab say, I heard Saad bin Abu Waqqas say (then he mentioned it).
