The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever frees a slave, Allah will free a part of him from the Fire for every part of the freed slave."
قال رسول الله ﷺ: من أعتق رقبة أعتق الله بكل عضو منه عضوا.
Tahawi narrated it in his Mushkil (716) from Abu Umaya, who said, Abu Asim narrated to us, from Uthman bin Murra, from Qasim, from Ayesha, and he mentioned it. Its chain is sahih.Similar in meaning is what was narrated from Uqba bin Amir Juhani, that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever frees a believing slave, it is his ransom from the Fire." Ahmad narrated it (17326), and Tabarani in Al-Kabir (17/no. 918), both from the hadith of Saeed bin Abu Aruba, from Qatada, who said, it was mentioned that Qays Juzami narrated it from Uqba bin Amir Juhani, and he mentioned it. Qays Juzami had companionship with the Prophet. This chain contains Qatada, who was a mudallis, and he narrated here using ambiguous transmission language, and moreover he never met any of the Companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ except Anas and Abdullah bin Sarjas, as Abu Hatim stated in Al-Marasil.Qays Juzami, who had companionship with the Prophet, also narrated it from Muaz bin Jabal. Ahmad narrated it (22113), from Muhammad bin Jafar, who said, Shuba narrated to us, from Qatada, from Qays. This chain also contains a break, for Qatada never met Qays.
