Abu Dawud (2920) narrated it, and Bayhaqi (6/257) narrated it through his route, from Husayn bin Muaz, who said, Abdul-Ala narrated to us, who said, Muhammad, meaning Ibn Ishaq, narrated to us, from Yazid bin Abdullah bin Qusayt, from Abu Hurairah, and he mentioned it. Ibn Abdul-Hadi deemed its chain sound in Tanqih (4/277).Ibn Khuzayma also narrated it, as Bayhaqi stated, from Fadl bin Yaqub Jazari, from Abdul-Ala, with this same chain, similarly. He added, connected to the hadith, "That is the stab of Satan. Every child of Adam receives that stab from him except for Mary and her son, for when her mother gave birth to her she said, "And I seek refuge for her with You, and her offspring, from Satan the accursed" [Al Imran 3:36], so a veil was placed between her and him, and he stabbed at the veil," meaning the veil.Its chain is hasan because of Muhammad bin Ishaq, for he is a mudallis and he related this with an ambiguous form of transmission, and I have not found any explicit statement from him confirming direct hearing. However, the hadith of Abu Hurairah has other routes that support it, even though these routes are not sahih on their own.What further supports this hadith is that it has also been reported in a mursal form through another route. Bayhaqi narrated it through Musa bin Dawud, from Abdul-Aziz bin Abu Salama, from Zuhri, from Saeed bin Musayab, from Abu Hurairah, who said, "It is from the sunnah that a newborn does not inherit, and is not made an heir, unless it cries out at birth." He said, this is how I found it.Yahya bin Saeed narrated it from Saeed bin Musayab, that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "A child does not inherit if it does not cry out at birth. Crying out means wailing, sneezing, or weeping. And its blood money is not paid in full." Saeed also said, "The funeral prayer is not performed over it."Silafi narrated it in Tuyuriyat, connected (242), through the hadith of Abdullah bin Shabib, who said, Ishaq bin Muhammad narrated to me, who said, Ali bin Abu Ali narrated to me, from Zuhri, from Saeed bin Musayab, from Abu Hurairah, that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "If the child cries out at birth, it is named, the funeral prayer is performed over it, its blood money is paid in full, and it inherits. But if it does not cry out at birth, even though it was born alive, it is not named, its blood money is not paid in full, the funeral prayer is not performed over it, and it does not inherit."However, this chain contains Ali bin Abu Ali, who is daif by the unanimous agreement of the scholars, and he has narrated fabricated hadiths from Muhammad bin Munkadir. It also contains Abdullah bin Shabib, who is likewise daif, as noted in Talkhis Habir (4/147).
