The Prophet ﷺ said, "When Allah loves a servant, He calls Jibreel and says, 'I love so-and-so, so love him.' Jibreel then loves him, and Jibreel calls out in the heavens, 'Allah loves so-and-so, so love him.' The inhabitants of the heavens then love him, and acceptance is placed for him on earth.And when Allah detests a servant, He calls Jibreel and says, 'I detest so-and-so, so detest him.' Jibreel then detests him, and he calls out among the inhabitants of the heavens, 'Allah detests so-and-so, so detest him.' They then detest him, and hatred is placed for him on earth."
عن النبي ﷺ قال: إن الله إذا أحب عبدا دعا جبريل فقال: إني أحب فلانا فأحبه فيحبه جبريل، ثم ينادي جبريل في السماء: إن الله يحب فلانا فأحبوه فيحبه أهل السماء، ثم يوضع له القبول في الأرض. وإذا أبغض عبدا دعا جبريل فيقول: إني أبغض فلانا فأبغضه قال: فيبغضه جبريل، ثم ينادي في أهل السماء: إن الله يبغض فلانا فابغضوه. قال: فيبغضونه، ثم توضع له البغضاء في الأرض.
Muslim narrated it in "Righteousness and Kinship Ties" (2637), from Zuhayr bin Harb, who said, "Jareer narrated to us, from Suhayl, from his father, from Abu Hurairah," and he related the hadith. Suhayl's father is Abu Salih.Bukhari narrated it in "Monotheism" (7485) through another route from Abu Salih, but he did not mention some of it. Bukhari also narrated it through other chains from Musa bin Uqba, from Nafi, from Abu Hurairah (3209, 6040), citing only the first part of the hadith.
