A robe of fine silk brocade was gifted to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, though he used to forbid silk, so the people marveled at it.He said, "By the One in whose hand is the soul of Muhammad, the handkerchiefs of Saad bin Muaz in Paradise are finer than this."
أهدي لرسول الله ﷺ جبة سندس، وكان ينهي عن الحرير، فعجب الناس منها، فقال: والذي نفس محمد بيده إن مناديل سعد بن معاذ في الجنة أحسن من هذا.
Bukhari narrated it in the Chapter on Gifts (2615), and Muslim in the Chapter on the Virtues of the Companions (2469), both from the hadith of Yunus bin Muhammad, who said, "Shayban narrated to us from Qatada, who said, 'Anas bin Malik narrated to us,'" and he related it.Muslim said, Muhammad bin Bashshar narrated to us, Salim bin Nuh narrated to us, Umar bin Amir narrated to us, from Qatada, from Anas, that Ukaydir of Dumat Jandal gave the Messenger of Allah ﷺ a cloak as a gift, and he related something similar, but he did not mention in it, "and he used to forbid silk."Bukhari also mentioned it as a suspended narration from Saeed, from Qatada.
