My father was brought on the day of Uhud, mutilated, and placed before the Messenger of Allah ﷺ with a cloth covering him. I went to uncover him, but my people stopped me. Then I went again to uncover him, and again my people stopped me. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ gave orders and he was lifted up. He then heard the voice of a woman wailing and asked, "Who is this?"Someone said, "The daughter of Amr," or "the sister of Amr."He said, "Why does she weep?" or "Let her not weep, for the angels continued to shade him with their wings until he was lifted up."
Bukhari narrated it in the Book of Funerals (1293) and in the Book of Jihad and Expeditions (2816), and Muslim narrated it in the Book of Virtues (2471), both from the hadith of Sufyan bin Uyayna, who said, I heard Ibn Munkadir say, Jabir bin Abdullah said (and he mentioned it), and their wording is the same. In the narration of Shuba, from Muhammad bin Munkadir, "When my father was killed, I began uncovering the cloth from his face, weeping, and they were forbidding me from doing so, while the Prophet ﷺ did not forbid me. Then my aunt Fatimah began weeping, and the Prophet ﷺ said..." and he mentioned the same. Bukhari narrated it (1244), and Muslim. He named the weeping woman as Fatimah, and she is the daughter of Amr, as Muslim traced her lineage, while Jabir's father was named Abdullah bin Amr bin Haram. This means Fatimah was the sister of Abdullah, and the aunt of Jabir.
