The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever takes in a stray animal is himself astray, unless he announces it publicly."
عن رسول الله ﷺ أنه قال: من آوى ضالة فهو ضال ما لم يعرفها.
Muslim narrated it in the Book of Lost Property (1725) through multiple routes, from Abdullah bin Wahb, who said, Amr bin Harith told me, from Bakr bin Sawada, from Abu Salim Jayshani, from Zayd bin Khalid Juhani, who said, and he mentioned it.
