The Prophet ﷺ said, "When Adam died, the angels washed him with water an odd number of times and made a side-niche grave for him. They said, 'This is the practice of Adam to be followed by his descendants.'"
عن النبي ﷺ قال: لما توفي آدم غسلته الملائكة بالماء وترا، وألحدوا له، وقالوا: هذه سنة آدم في ولده.

Hakim narrated it (2/545) from Husayn bin Hasan bin Ayub, who said, "Abu Hatim Razi told us, Musa bin Ismail told us, Hammad bin Salama told us, from Thabit Bunani, from Hasan, from Utayy bin Damra, from Ubayy bin Kaab," and he related it. Hakim said, "The isnad is sahih."Utayy, with the first letter pronounced with a damma as a diminutive form, is a disputed figure. Ibn Saad said he was trustworthy but had few hadiths. Ajli said, "Hasan narrated six hadiths from him, and no one else narrated from him." He also said of him, "A Basran, trustworthy." Ibn Hibban mentioned him among the trustworthy narrators. But Ibn Madini said, "He is unknown. He heard from Ubayy bin Kaab, but we do not preserve this except through the route of Hasan. His hadith resembles the hadith of truthful people, even though he himself is not well known."I say, someone like him deserves to have his hadith graded hasan, for he does not fall below the rank of "truthful." In fact, Hafiz placed him at the rank of "trustworthy."Tabarani also narrated it in Al-Awsat through the route of Rawh bin Aslam, who said, "Hammad bin Salama told us," and then the same chain. Tabarani said, "No one narrated from Hammad except Rawh."I say, this is not accurate, for Musa bin Ismail also narrated it, as found in Hakim's version, as you have seen.
